Liverpool’s debut goalkeeper Simon Mignolet saved a late Stoke penalty to earn his side a win at Anfield.

_69337256_sturridge_getty2Potters’ boss Mark Hughes appeared set for a point in his first game in charge but Mignolet kept out Jon Walters’s spot-kick after Daniel Agger handled.

Earlier, Potters’ defender Robert Huth and Reds centre-back Kolo Toure were both denied by the woodwork.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge then scored the eventual winner, arrowing in a 22-yard shot.
